PhD candidate, Dewan Ibtesham's research focuses in increasing HPC application runtime efficiency by applying compression techniques to reduce data movement. Dewan's work, joint with his Advisor Professor Dorian Arnold and co-advisor Kurt Ferreira, PhD, was published in Resilience workshop in 2011,12, ICPP 2012 conference, SC-12 conference(poster), FTXS 2014 workshop and is recently approved for publication at the "International Journal of High Performance Computing".
Dewan received his bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering from BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology) in 2007 and his Masters in Computer Science from UNM in 2013. His research interests are generally in high performance computing, large scale distributed systems and fault tolerance for
such systems. He is a member of Scalable Systems Lab at UNM and collaborate with researchers from the "Resiliency for Exascale Platform Research" group from Sandia National Laboratories.
