What is the Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Business and Industry track about?
Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Business and Industry is focused on AI-related research and applications outside of academia. Researchers working in AI-related businesses and industries are highly encouraged to submit interesting and original work. They may discuss insightful findings and developments but are not expected to reveal proprietary aspects of the study (simply reference sensitive material with the term proprietary in parentheses).
What is unique about this track?
AI applications in industry and business present unique challenges. Datasets are incomplete, inconsistent, noisy, or of poor quality. AI models have to incorporate domain-specific knowledge and are constrained by business demands. Several design compromises are required to effectively leverage AI techniques. Applying well-understood AI algorithms to new problems reveals new limitations of the algorithms and leads to better understanding of the algorithms. It also enables better-designed and newer algorithms. Techniques developed by industry researchers to meet these challenges generalize into AI best practices for real world problems. This track provides a venue for discussing these unique challenges.
What is the GOAL of the track?
The goal of the track is to showcase AI-related research that has practical applications in solving important problems in the business world. This will expand public interest in AI by demonstrating that it can be commercially valuable in addition to being an area of active research in academia. As AI techniques become mainstream in the industry, this track will promote the development of AI best practices.
Who might be interested?
Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Business and Industry special track may be of particular interest to scientists and engineers working in business and industry, including those who are not exclusively involved in research. Students performing research internships in industry or involved in practical AI-related research at their universities are also encouraged to submit.
What kind of studies will be of interest?
We strongly encourage studies associated with the interests of business or industry that involve, include, or focus on 1) the identification of real-world problems 2) the formulation of real-world problems in terms of AI-inspired models 3) the investigation, evaluation, and assessment of any range of AI algorithms, techniques and approaches and 4) results, resolutions, solutions, suggestions, and future directions. Specific insights may include but are not limited to:
Note that we invite original papers (i.e. work not previously submitted, in submission, or to be submitted to another conference during the reviewing process).
