Departmental Relations
The CSGSA is one of the primary interfaces between the graduate students
in the department and the adminstrative side of the department. We are
responsible for raising student concerns with the faculty, pushing for
positive change in the department, facilitating a sense of community among
the students (and we often include the faculty in this), etc. To that
end, the CSGSA consistently pushes to ensure that student input is a part
of major decisions for improving the department.
Generally, the CSGSA tries to foster a positive relationship with the
department, since in the end, we are all working toward the same things.
That being said, the department does need to be reminded that a) students
are adults and deserve to be respected as such, and b) student opinion
is worthwhile, valuable and can improve the department when incorporated
into the decision-making process.
There are both standing and ad hoc committees on which CSGSA representatives
