Abdullah Mueen is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at University of New Mexico. He joined UNM as an Assistant Professor in 2013. Earlier he was a Scientist in the Cloud and Information Sciences Lab at Microsoft Corporation. His major interest is in temporal data mining with a focus on two unique types of signals: social networks and electrical sensors. He has been actively publishing in the data mining conferences including KDD, ICDM and SDM, and journals including DMKD and KAIS. He has won ACM SIGKDD Test-of-Time Award in 2022, Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award from the School of Engineering at UNM, runner-up award in the Doctoral Dissertation Contest in KDD 2012, and the best paper award in KDD 2012. His research has been funded by NSF, NIH, DARPA, AFRL, NEC, Exxon, Microsoft and LANL. Earlier, he earned PhD degree at the University of California at Riverside in 2012 and, BSc degree at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2006.
