Biographical Sketch
Patrick Widener holds positions as Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Center for Computing Research at Sandia National Laboratories and Research Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico. His particular research interests are in operating systems, high-performance computing, middleware, and metadata/data management for large-data applications and services. Before coming to Sandia, he was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, and Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Comprehensive Informatics, at Emory University (2009-2011). Prior to that, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and later Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UNM (2005-2009). Before beginning my research career, he spent several years as a professional software developer for a series of companies which no longer exist.
