What is all this?? This is my life,
actually just a relative subset, but the stuff that someone might actually be
interested in.
Most of the information below is also in my
Resume ( HTML ),
though in condensed form.
Professional Life
Work Experience
- I have been a manager at McDonalds!! (~3
yrs)
- This may sound silly, but hey, many
people have lots of difficulty trying to organize a shift of workers,
ranging from 10-20 people, such that people don't conflict with one
another, and still get things done in time!
- In addition other interesting
aspects of this job were meeting requirements of the FDA, OSHA, the DOL, and corporate requirements of
quality.
- I have been a security guard for AKAL Security (~1 yr.)
- General Security duties (in which I
have experienced many things, including being shot at, and training in
subduing individuals.)
- Training Security
Officers
- Site-supervision for Menaul School,
Albuquerque.
- I have been a System Administrator for
the Office of Graduate Studies (~2
mo.)
- administering a Novell 3.12 Network, and a Windows95 peer-to-peer
network
- database administration/design (DBA)
for a Access/Paradox
database
- minor work assisting with filing
related to the DBA work.
- I have been a Student Intern with the
City of Albuquerque, Traffic Engineering
Division. (~1 yr)
- This was also mostly due to the Career Services Center
- Here I performed the duties of a
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Analyst on the ARC/INFO type of database.
- I regularly
performed
- data entry
- database
maintenance
- development of new uses for the
database utilities, and the database itself.
- developed tools using the
ARC/INFO Macro Language (AML)
- I also Performed System
Administration Tasks on a Sun Solaris
(2.5, 2.6) network, a HP/UX (9.x) network
(which through NFS was connected to the Solaris Network), a Novell Netware
combined 3.12, and 4.11 network, and a simple Windows9x peer-to-peer
network.
- Beyond that I primarily supported
users on PC Applications (which ranged from MSOffice, Wordperfect, network administration
utilities for local administrators, to GIS utilities).
- Included in this was developing a
tracking utility using Microsoft Excel (part of the MSOffice suite), and
the Visual Basic programming environment included with
it.
- I have been an Associate Software
Engineer at Honeywell , Defense Avionics Systems in
Albuquerque. (~ 3 yrs)
Thanks, in large part to the Career Services Center
- While there, I had a one year task
in Information Technologies, on thier Applications Development
team
- This was mostly programming for
databases, in PLSQL, and C. These Databases were of the Oracle variety and Atabase (Real-Time
Database) design, though there was also some work done in MS Access 2.0
(including Database Design).
- Financial and Time-Keeping
systems
- Program Management and Planning
Tasks occupied a fair amount of my time, as we prepared for the Y2K
tasks of updating our systems.
- Though I also had to do a
significant amount of system administration for a HP/UX 10.02 system
and an HP/UX 9.x
network.
- Beyond this, I continued what I
was best at, at that time, PC Software support for the team (MSOffice, WordPerfect,
General Windows applications)

Software Team (2 yrs.)
- Programming for an embedded
real-time aircraft graphics display (the actual application and work on
the operating system itself).
- Designing and implementing, and
later simplification, of a process for application builds and delivery
of software.
- Development of internal tools for
programming the device, building the application, Configuration
Management control
- Documentation for the software,
including a Software Programmer's Manual (for our software API), a
Software Version Description and documentation for the internally
developed tools.
- Along with the above, I also
continued to perform tasks for System Administration and Software
support (though this was more software support on the Sun Solaris
Systems that my team worked on.)
- I was a Graduate Student Intern at
Sandia National Laboratories from
August 2002 to June 2003.
- This is in an Information Systems Department
- This job has involved:
- review of software packages
- coding in Java,
- and shell scripting
- This has been specifically regarding document and image conversion
software.
- Further a clearance has been required for this position, and
therefore I had a DOE "L" clearance, basically a Secret level
clearance.
- I was a Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin Management and Data Systems in
Colorado Springs.
This is a software maintenance and
development position for the GPS ground systems project.
This job entails:
- a Secret Level DOD Clearence.

This job entails:
- a Secret Level DOD Clearence.
- Software Engineering in UML, Ada and Perl.
- simulating ground systems for satellite communication and satellite
on-board systems.
I am now a Senior Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin Integrated

project.
This job entails:
- a Secret Level DOD Clearence.
- Software Engineering in UML, Ada, Java, C, KSH, and Perl.
- Mission Planning and Support applications
- Extensive Web services planning and development.

Teaching
Experience
- In all of my previous positions, I
have taught newer employees, using an on-the-job training type of teaching,
how to use the tools of the department, and about their position in the
department.
- I have also taught introduction
classes in a more formal atmosphere at the City of Albuquerque, Traffic
Engineering, and Honeywell, Information Technologies, for the employees of
those institutions.
- I have also been assisting in teaching
for PE-NP 193 (Tai Chi Chuan) for two semesters, under Charlie
Defillippo.
- I have been Head Teaching Assistant
(TA) for CS151,
taught by Dr. Shapiro, for the
Fall of 2000. (1 sem.)
- I was the instructor for the summer
semester of CS151.
(2 sem.)
- Due to the above experience, most other
semesters I act in a consulting capacity for the CS151 course.
- I was the Teaching Assistant for CS451
(Programming Paradigms) CS451. (1
sem.)
Research Experience
- I worked on research on the ARC/INFO
software, for the City of Albuquerque, in methods, and uses.
- Some research was done during my time
at honeywell, though only superficial, as it was mostly on running times of
operating system components, and space requirements. There was a
briefly interesting amount of research on system
rearchitecture.
- I have worked as a research contractor
for SearchBuilder.com, under the
direction of Dr. George
Luger, and Joe Delessandro. (~ 1 mo.)
- This project involves the generation
of Natural Language, in the form of Web Pages.
- This expanded into a Research
Assistantship for the Spring 2001 semester, under Dr. George Luger. ( 1 sem
).
- This project involves the generation
of Natural Language, in the form of Web Pages.
- Additionally some work is being done
in understanding Natural Language (in the form of Web Pages) and using
that to create other Web Pages.
- There is also work being done
currently on Document Categorization and Information
Retrieval.
- (This has currently expanded into an
independent research project)
- I am now working with Dr. Kailta at UCCS
to develop natural language enhanced search engines. More on this to
come.
