All of my formal education has been in physics. I worked a little bit in image analysis and low-level computer vision during my PhD, including signal and image reconstruction through regularized optimization. This is where I got hooked on machine learning. I decided to switch paths after graduating and have loved working in inverse reinforcement learning to better understand human-autonomy teaming.
