Everyone in the class will be expected to keep current with this group, so start now! Important course announcements and handouts will be posted to the group fairly frequently. Participating in the online discussion will be part of your course grade.

The recommended text for the course is The Java Programming Language, 4th Ed. by Arnold, Gosling and Holmes. This is a good reference book, written by some of the designers of Java. However, there are also lots of other good resources available, and this one is not required for the course.

Attendance in lectures (MWF 11-11:50) and your lab section (W one hour) is required, except on University holidays.
