Semester Project in Experimental Studies
Schedule:
-
Nov 1: Each group emails a project proposal (a couple of
paragraphs) to Prof. Saia.
-
Nov 10: Each group turns in a printout of a project design
(what you will measure, what are the experimental conditions, what are
your goals, what expectations, what software will be used,
etc.). This project design should be about 2 pages. Every
group makes sure they can produce plots, graphs, etc., from data.
-
Nov 29: Each group turns in a printout of three or more
example plots from initial experiments along with descriptions of the
experiments and results . This will involve setting up the
software and data (or data generators) needed to run the experiments;
running initial sets of experiments for calibration and checking if
anything crucial has been overlooked.
-
Dec 8: Each group turns in a printout of the final report in
class.. This will involve: running all experiments one after
the other (note that it may take several days to run the experiments),
analyzing the results and writing the project report.
