Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream
in 2 minutes
Recently Popular Science published an article about how to make liquid
nitrogen ice cream. Being the geeks we are, we HAD to do it ourselves.
If you desire to do this yourself we reccomend you take all possible
precautions. Don't mess with dangerous substances unless you know what
you are doing, or you don't like your fingers. Below you will find the
pictures from the ice cream creation... Use any old ice cream recipe.
First we made the cream, sugar and vanilla mixture.
Then we slowly started folding liquid nitrogen in.
We kept adding LN2 and folding.
We used a wooden spoon and a stainless steel bowl so that we would avoid shattering them. Worked great.
Once the mixture begins to thicken you need to keep folding.
Ok, so we ate the ice cream and now we're freezing household objects... This is a Tennis ball. A raquet ball would have been better.
Say no to crack.
No, Mark is not showing us his Kung Fu moves, he's trying to break the ball.
Always have a video camera on hand. That way when someone gets hurt you can not only explain to the doctor how stupid you were, but you can show them!!! Oh and it's always a GREAT idea to drink while playing with dangerous substances.
Here we are trying to break the ball. It worked but the fabric contained the shattered rubber.
Freezing a grocery bag was fun.
Here is a closeup of the ball we just shattered.
We made some "Beer Cream" too. It was actually suprisingly tasty! I wonder when Ben and Jerry are going to pick up the "Beer Sorbet"?
Comming Soon!
The amazing Human Torch!
We have pictures of us being even more stupid and trying to blow fire (using everclear). This was the last time we will EVER try this since my friend lit his face on fire and has some moderate burns. I burned my hand. Expect photos soon.
