Ashraf Siddiquee
Mohammad Ashraf Siddiquee (known to friends as Ashraf) is a Ph.D. student in the UNM Computer Science department. His research revolves around the mining of spatio-temporal data. Ashraf is working under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Mueen in collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Currently, he is applying different data-mining and machine learning techniques on seismic data, with the goal of developing scalable algorithms to detect and classify millions of seismic events using motif discovery methods to better understand the earth structure near faults, tectonic shifts, and volcanoes. He is also working on localization of seismic events with high precision.
Ashraf is treasurer for the Computer Science Graduate Student Association (CSGSA) and the vice-president of Bangladeshi Student Association at UNM (BSAUNM). To assist international students, he often volunteers for Global Education Office (GEO) events.
