CS Department Hires New Professor: Melanie Moses
November 4, 2005
Melanie Moses earned her Bachelor's degree in Symbolic Systems from Stanford and recently earned her Doctorate from the Biology department at UNM. The hire accentuates the CS Department's ongoing move toward interdisciplinary work. Prof. Moses' research focuses on complex systems and computational biology, more specifically on general principles that govern social organization, particularly how the size of a social system influences its efficiency in acquiring energy and information. Her research often uses scaling theory as a modeling tool.
