Brooke Chenoweth Creel honored with Computer Science Founders’ Fund award

Brooke Chenoweth Creel, an instructor in the Department of Computer Science since 2013, has been honored with the Founders’ Fund Award. She was honored on Sept. 25 at a ceremony in the Centennial Engineering Center’s Stamm Commons.
Voted on by graduating seniors, this award is given only every three years and is intended to reward and recognize outstanding teaching in the department.
Creel previously worked at Sandia National Laboratories and ARES Corporation. She earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana and her master’s in computer science from Indiana University.
The Department of Computer Science Founders’ Fund was established by former students and faculty honoring another outstanding educator who has had a significant impact on the lives of undergraduate students. The Founders’ Fund honors three UNM educators — Sto Bell, Ed Gilbert and Don Morrison — who worked to form the Department of Computer Science at UNM in 1976.
